Blue Connections IT joins with Dell Technologies to assist Anglicare Victoria in taking hunger off the table
Blue Connections IT
June 12, 2024 – Showcasing their ongoing dedication to fostering positive change in the local community, Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies have once again partnered, this time in support of Anglicare Victoria’s mission to take hunger off the table for vulnerable Victorians. The recent third annual Giving Day, held at Blue Connection IT’s headquarters, featured employees from both organisations coming together to pack and donate 400 food hampers, brimming with 4,400 essential food items and special gifts, to support Anglicare Victoria’s initiative.
Gordon Brownell, chief executive officer, Blue Connections IT, said, “Amidst the cost-of-living crisis, thousands of Victorian families are regularly forced to choose between eating meals or paying essential bills. The surge in visits to Anglicare Victoria’s emergency relief sites over the past year underscores the pressing need for assistance, with supplies dwindling. This year, the teams from Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies, alongside key vendors and distributors, endeavoured to relieve this burden by assembling food hampers with necessary staples. The businesses are proud to support hundreds of families as they brace for the harsh winter ahead.”
During the event, each participant packed essential food supplies, including pantry staples like corn flakes, long-life milk, pasta, rice, tinned tomatoes, and pancake mix, while adding a personal touch by including a special gift such as a teddy bear or a pencil case, along with a heartfelt message for the receiving family. These food hampers have already been swiftly distributed across Victoria, underscoring the urgent need for assistance.
Kirsty Simpson, director of strategic communications and marketing, Anglicare Victoria, said, “Right now, many Victorians are only one week’s salary away from requiring extra support. No family should ever face the dilemma of heating their homes or filling their plates. As the state’s largest provider of emergency relief, Anglicare Victoria deeply appreciates the support of Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies in putting together these vital supplies, with each hamper already relieving a family’s unbearable stress of not knowing where their next meal will come from.”
Shant Soghomonian, senior director & general manager, channel sales, ANZ, Dell Technologies, said, “Working alongside Blue Connections IT and Anglicare Victoria to address the most pressing needs of vulnerable Victorians is a privilege. Giving back to the community is integral to the culture at Dell Technologies, and the company is proud to partner with other like-minded organisations to make meaningful contributions.”
Last year, Blue Connections IT and Dell Technologies’ Giving Day focused on children and young people supported by Anglicare Victoria in out of home settings including foster care, kinship care, and residential care. More than 400 backpacks filled with essential resources such as lunch boxes, drink bottles, and a teddy bear for comfort were donated, which aimed to ease transition to a new home or school for these young individuals.
The partnership between Blue Connections IT, Dell Technologies, and Anglicare Victoria first began in 2018, when the businesses collaborated to refresh Anglicare Victoria’s technology through device lifecycle management. This support was extended throughout the COVID-19 pandemic while Anglicare Victoria and its staff continued to provide critical services to families and children. Since its inception in 2022, Giving Day has evolved into a cherished tradition, symbolising the profound impact achieved when companies collaborate with charities to effect positive change.
